The library continues to be one of Dom's favourite places to visit. On sunny days he can even romp about in the playground. Note that transitioning from indoor blocks play to outdoor slide play can involve a crossover period :-)
A little early this week, as Mum and Dad are coming down for the weekend. I shall press on if the opportunity arises but it's nice to know that I've more than met my target even if I don't do anything else this week.
Which means tomorrow is Friday, which means we're getting close to the weekend. Which is good, as I am a leeeeetle bit knackered. Had the thought that my cold-like symptoms may in fact be hayfever. My car is covered in pollen.
Will try some hayfever meds, see if they help.
Also, it is important to be careful where I leave glasses lying around. Had a glass of water at lunchtime, put it down to help get Dom out of his high chair and clean up, and he picked it up and dropped it on the kitchen floor. Very distressing as it caused injury to Debbie.
Sleep more. Clumsy less.
Also, CG's part 3 of The Event is up and it's very cool. Someone stumbled onto it by searching for 'Te Papa' on google blogsearch :-)
My school's ball is on tonight. I taught a Y13 class after lunch yesterday. There were a few girls missing.
Actually most of the class showed up, there were only 4 girls who'd taken the day off to get ready for the ball. Apparently if the ball starts at 6pm on Saturday it is necessary to take all of Friday off to get manicures, haircuts and styles, last minute dress fittings and many other procedures I don't want to know anything about.
The class are working on their short films at the moment, so they broke off into their groups and many of them asked to work in computer rooms or the library. Within seconds the class had scattered leaving me with the very pleasant Friday afternoon of talking to small groups then walking around the school in the glorious sunshine from one location to the next. The weather was fabulous yesterday and it was a great way to end a week that's been pretty tiring (Dom was unwell due to teething in the middle of the week, leading to less sleep than usual and some stress).
I might plan to scatter my students more often on sunny days just so I can have the pleasure of strolling :-)
Wrote 1600 words for The Event too, which was a lot of fun.
I currently feel I would like to own one of these:
Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD
At $400 (at the cheapest price I could find in NZ - through pricespy.co.nz) it's a pretty cool looking point and shoot camera with 15x zoom and a good amount of poke-the-settings-ability. Based on reviews.
I already have an excellent old digital camera, so no plans to buy one right away, but it may go on the Christmas list (or the replacement if existing camera gets dropped in a glass of water or falls into the sea list :-) )
