Wrasslin' with Dom

Dominic is developing some fearsome wrestling skills. He also sees an exhausted, prone parent as a climbing toy rather than a reason to detour...

Sunday afternoon fun

Well, it wasn't the sunniest day of the summer but Dom still enjoyed romping around outside while his parents took shifts hanging up the washing.

A bit of strolling with the lion.

The budding (yes, the lame pun is intended) botanist examines the flowers.

Riding in a laundry basket is the best way to celebrate the completion of hanging out the washing...

...you just need an obliging Dad-mule to pull you around.

Still not convinced that riding in laundry baskets is awesome? Watch the video evidence.

Weekend fun

Matt has blogged some of the photos from Dom's fun ride on the tram but he also got to meet a lovely clydesdale on Saturday. It was a very chilled-out horse and was just roaming about free in Queen Elizabeth's park near the Tram muesum. It didn't even stop chomping grass when a tram went right pas  it. So cute.

We tempted the horse away from the grass with some yummy carrots and it was happy tro become acquainted with young Dom. It pays to have some carrots in your picnic supplies in case you encounter friendly equines.

Tram with Grandma

Yesterday we had an action-packed day with Dom's grandma, getting out for a 45 minute walk in the morning along the Waikanae river and a tram ride in the afternoon, as well as visiting the farmers' market by the beach and stopping for yummy gelato at the Mediterranean Food Warehouse. It was all very cool! The tram is in Queen Elizabeth park, running from the first carpark to the beach and back. Next time we go we'll probably pack a picnic, get out at the beach and run around, then jump back on for the return ride. This time we went for the ride itself, which was lovely.

Threadless t-shirt design

I submitted a design to threadless.com, a t-shirt making website. If you have/sign up for a threadless account you can now vote for how awesome it is :-) It's the old Apocalypse Cow art from the Cow card game. Vote high, vote often and I might get money and prizes!

"It looks like a baaji but it's in custard Richard, custard."

It seems it is important to ensure that you keep your camera in your carry-on luggage when you go on holiday in case you need photographic evidence of your airline dinner...

Complaint Letter

This has to be one of my favourite food reviews ever.

Edit to include Dom photo. At least he is eating in this pic, so it's kind of appropriate.

Dominic gets swished up for a wedding!

Dominic gets swished up for a wedding!

Dominic got all dressed up yesterday in his stylish new tux to attend a delightful CU ceremony at the Old Museum building in Wellington.

Kids in fancy clothes are cute. I have to think of more reasons to get him dressed up in his tux.

Stepping out in style.

Ready to par-tay.

Dad had to readjust adjust the outfit after a brief wardrobe malfunction exposed baby-belly.

After quickly getting hot, Dom when for a more relaxed look by having his assistants remove the jacket and cumerbund.

Dominic especially enjoyed the bits of the ceremony where he could join in the enthusiastic applause.

Partied out. After a quick stop to get dinner, the party boy crashed out in the back of the limo with his bow tie off and collar unbuttoned in true dishevelled playboy fashion.

Stolen photos

I love taking sneaky photos with the bride and groom at weddings. Well, at weddings I've been invited to anyway. I got a great photo with Erik and Giffy at their wedding by running up between family photos and ambushing them. This year we took Dominic to Morgue and Cal's civil union and he was being a little noisy. Squealy in fact. High pitched squealing in an echoing room

In the process of taking Dom out of the main room into side areas to spare people the noise, I happened to come across Cal - and got a quick photo with the beautiful bride while she was still un-unioned :-)

Not long after that (having tried to catch some of the ceremony then exiting via a different door) Debbie, Dom and I found Morgue!

We went outside after that and took some photos, managing to sneak back in for the end of the ceremony.

Dominic in new T-shirts

Since his Granny sent him a bunch of new T-shirts, we decided to have a bit of a photo shoot this morning. This of course meant running around after him with a camera and having to either hold him or wait for the cat to distract him for long enough to stay still for a photo.

Dom wears his neat shark T-shirt. It will go well with his shark bike helmet.

Posing with Dad. Observe the broad, muscular shoulders that have developed from lots of family exercise recently. His dad doesn't look too bad either :-)

Dom opted for a lying down picture here. Not good for showing off the T-shirt but still cute.

Wearing the cool Rhino T-shirt.

Modelling is thirsty work.

Otaihanga Reserve/Waikanae River Walk

Today Debbie, Dominic and I took a walk along the Waikanae river, starting in the beautiful Otaihanga Reserve, crossing a bridge and walking inland along the edge of El Rancho (an activity/camp site). It was a stunning walk and we took many photos. Next time we invite people up this way we're planning to have a picnic in the reserve :-)

Ducks!

Peekaboo! There are quite a few areas that would be cool for an outdoors larp.

I love the smell of Nature in the morning.

Look Dominic - water!

Smile and look casual!

Debbie and Dom make their way back across the Waikanae river.

Bike seat for Dominic!

We have now have a cool wee baby seat on the back of my bike for Dominic! Yay!

Matt took Dom for a short test ride today but hopefully the sunny weather will return and we can go for lots of longer bike rides as a family.

It was hard to get photos where Dominic wasn't looking down staring at the back wheel in fascination.

His bike helmet has cool sharks on it. I wish I could get one like it in adult size.

Collage

Matt, he draws on whiteboards.

Brought the school camera home after putting up posters so I could upload photos of the much more decorated classroom, and found a few snaps of stuff I'd drawn on my whiteboard last year. I will try to take more pictures of what I end up drawing over the coming months...

Some closeups:

I drew the sagging boobs hag first, then had to ask the class how they would draw a hag. Big nose and wart seemed so obvious once they were pointed out to me...
